India treats ‘Netflix addiction’ as internet use surges
As online media and SNS giants add more users, people tend to spend more time on the screen of their smartphones. Also, the number of young people who are addicted to watching screens and playing games is increasing rapidly. Some of such young addicts spend most of their conscious-hours alone with their smartphones, without making interactions with anyone or paying attention to anything other than the monsters or enemies they fight in the games.
This kind of phenomena is spreading to any place where affordable phones and internet connection become available, including India. More young people are now secluding themselves from social interaction but only engaging with others online.
